CONNECT

Easing even the simplest of things.

Connect is a magnetic outlet adapter that eases the process of plugging in and unplugging electronics. The design was developed to assist users with disabilities, but was found to address many problems we all face with standard electrical outlets.

THE IDEA

Connect was born out of a project with an entrepreneur named Justin who has cerebral palsy. He came to us with an idea. Observe his daily life and attempt to solve some of the issues he faces on a daily basis. Research was conducted over a period of months where we noticed that the process of using electrical devices was extremely difficult due to a lack of dexterity. Connect was the solution.

IT'S SIMPLE

To use, simply plug the base station into a standard wall outlet and add the adapter to the cord of a device. The two work like magic, automatically snapping together when in close proximity.

IT'S SMART

In approximately the same size as a standard face plate, the base station offers 3 circular outlets that allow the adapters to swivel 360 degrees and accommodate plugs of various shapes and sizes.

IT'S HELPFUL

A handle built into the base-station provides better grip when removing the device.

IDENTITY

The identity needed to reflect the informed simplicity of the concept. The name is what it does and the process of connection is implied within the type, while the symbol is not only a functional design element of the device, but also a representation of connection itself. These elements together created a versatile logo that is at once both familiar and informative.
